Angelfish
The colorful Angelfishes are closely related to the Butterflyfishes, but are larger and have a short spine on the gill covers. The scientific name for Angelfish is Pomacanthidae, from the Greek poma meaning "cover" and akantha meaning "thorn".

Angelfishes are often seen solitary. They are said to appear fearless and approach divers. So far has this never happened to me.
Angelfishes feed on algae and sponges. They can be up to 40 cm in length. |
