Butterflyfish
These colorful and busy fishes are synonymous with the coral reefs. Most of the species can be seen in shallow water, which is appreciated by snorkelers. Many Butterflyfishes are seen in pairs.

Most Butterflyfishes feed on coral polyps and sea anemones. An exemption is Black Pyramid Butterflyfish - it feeds on plankton and can form large schools above the reef.
Butterflyfishes can be from 10 to 25 cm in length. |
