Diving & SnorkellingMaldives is famous for two things: Beautiful beaches and an even more beautiful scenery under the surface of the blue sea.
The surface temperature in the sea is comfortable 28-29 degrees every day, which means that you can stay in the water for a long period without fear of hypothermia. Amazingly is the temperature at 30 meters depth still 26-27 degrees. The easiest way to explore the underwater world is to put on a mask and jump into the water. Using a snorkel will make it more comfortable, as you don’t have to hold your breath, unless you get spelled by the breath-taking scenery! You may also add a pair of fins, so you can paddle around with less effort. |
Skin diving is the simplest form for diving, as it only requires a mask and a pair of fins. Then it depends on how long you can hold your breath. The water pressure increases rapidly with depth, and even at two meters depth may you start to feel discomfort in your ears. The trick is to start to equalize the pressure in the inner ear before you get that far. This is done by squeezing the nostrils with your fingers and “blow” hard so the air pressure in your mouth increases and find its way to the inner ear.
Scuba diving is the ultimate way to discover the underwater world. The benefit is that you can go deeper and stay down longer than most people can hold their breath. Scuba diving requires professional training and more equipment. The resorts have good dive centers and experienced instructors who will help your dream come true. |
